Notes:
The canal was excavated in 1888 to facilitate access to Peninsula Lake by large steam ships. Before the canal was created the area consisted of a small stream and wetland.
The Fairy Lake to Peninsula Lake Canal is a recreational boating area lined with mature deciduous and coniferous trees and other vegetation. The topography is mostly flat in the immediate area around the canal with gently sloping hills to the north and south. A variety of personal docking platforms have been constructed on the banks of the canal in areas where private residences back onto the water feature.
