About MuskokaBuilt

Launched in 2021, MuskokaBuilt is a crowd-sourced database of images and information about buildings and structures in Muskoka, a project of ACO Muskoka. Anyone interested in Muskoka's built heritage can explore entries. We encourage users to join ACO Muskoka to share their own research, information, and images and help expand the database but being an ACO member is not required at this time to do so. At launch time we focussed on publicly accessible buildings but we would love to include more private properties such as residences.

The platform is based on TOBuilt

Muskoka Built is a platform for users to both learn from and contribute to. It is our hope that consolidating this community research will help facilitate the protection of Muskoka’s architectural heritage for future generations.

Muskoka Built FAQs

Anyone can search, view, add or edit entries. Although we encourage you to join ACO Muskoka, membership is not required at this time to use the database. Note that all new and edited entries are reviewed before being released on to the public side of the database.  If you are interested in becoming a member, please visit our membership page for more information.

The boundaries are according to the local municipalities in Muskoka as shown on the map.

While we try to input as much information for each entry, unfortunately we do not always have all the details, especially for older buildings. We add all the information we have to make an entry as complete as possible.

Not yet! There are  thousands of buildings and structures in Muskoka- not including ones that no longer exist. It takes time to photograph, research, write, and add entries for buildings. If you are interesting in helping add to the database, please visit our membership page for more information.

Information on MuskokaBuilt is added by volunteers and any information we have to date is already online.
