Notes:
The historic bridge was rehabilitated in 2000 and is a heritage landmark in Huntsville. It is a rare surviving example of a swing bridge, however no longer operates.
The main span of the bridge is 53m and the length of the structure is 73m. The bridge includes a single concrete rigid frame approach span. The main swing span features a center-bearing design. The circular rack and the pinion remain in place, as evidence of the swing bridge design. Original lattice railing remains on the bridge.
The Huntsville Swing Bridge is a simple span, concrete and metal bridge with a pony configuration (traffic travels between parallel superstructures that are not cross-braced at the top), a V-leg rigid frame, closed spandrel deck arches on the east and west stationary ends, and a subdivided Warren truss. In the centre of the north truss is a small rectangular structure with a hip roof and paired flat-headed one-over-one windows on all elevations. It is balanced on the truss and is used to watch for boats.
