"The loss of several local buildings through fire in the mid-1940s, including the town hall, motivated the Town of Bala to build its own fire hall in 1945. The building also housed one of the town’s early jails, which can still be seen. Many firefighting artifacts are still proudly on view." from Doors Open, 2007
The Bala Firehall and Jail is a two storey wood frame construction with horizontal siding, a gambriel roof, a single door central entrance flanked by two garage doors, and two rectangular windows on the second storey. The one storey addition to the south of the original structure is also a wood frame construction with horizontal siding; however, it has a gable roof with a central gambriel gable on the east elevation, a seemingly hand painted sign that reads "Bala Fire Station" with the Township's logo beneath the gambriel gable, two garage doors, and a rectangular window on the first storey of the south elevation.
