Since 1908, Bala’s visitors have come here for boats. At one time, lumber for building canoes and rowboats was off-loaded from railway cars through an upper freight door. Purk’s Place still provides canoes, kayaks, fishing boats, and bait. The simple frame vernacular building, painted white, is beautifully sited above the falls, on land leased from CPR.
